Here are opening lines of the first 20 songs randomly taken from my mp3 collection. Guess the song, and the artist! (And [ profile] arosoff is banned from playing, even if she pretends she's not paying attention!) I've skipped any where the title is in the first line of the song. And some that nobody's likely to get. And instrumentals!

1. Hell is gone and heaven's here (Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams [[ profile] c8bt])
2. I've got two strong arms, blessings of Babylon (The Riddle by Nik Kershaw [[ profile] smiorgan])
3. If I say I don't need anyone, I can say these things to you (Rocket Queen by Guns N' Roses [[ profile] esran])
4. I wanna know, did you get the feeling

6. A straw headed woman, and a barrel chested man ((Waiting For) The Ghost Train by Madness [[ profile] kyte])
7. I don't know what you're looking for
8. I'm taking all you down with me
9. I guess this time you're really leaving, I heard your suitcase say goodbye (two lines, but the first really is quite vague and generic!!) (I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi [[ profile] sillysally])
10. These bastards stole their power from the victims of the Us v. Them years
11. I'm the dandy highwayman and you're too scared to mention (Stand And Deliver by Adam and the Ants [[ profile] kyte])
12. I was feeling done in -- couldn't win (Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me by Susan Sarandon (as Janet from the Rocky Horror Picture Show OST) [[ profile] c8bt])

18. Reaching out for something you've got to feel
19. Good and bad I swear I've had
20. It's not the way you lead me by the hand into the bedroom (Sometimes by Erasure [[ profile] kyte])
Something to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon... here's a list of 200 things you may or may not have done! Bold those that you have. Add some comments for spice, if you like.

200 things )
These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you've read, italicize the ones you own but have not read.

Note: Alexis almost certainly owns some of these; however the criteria I have used for the list is "bought by myself" for those I own but haven't read.

Okay you lot, you've got all but three of my movie quotes.

I'm frankly surprised that nobody's got #2. It's from one of my favourite movies. And it's a pivotal moment from that movie, though it doesn't become apparent for some time.

#5 is a bit of a curve-ball. But some logic can be applied to the quote and an intelligent guess made ;)

As for #10, well, I'd suggest getting hold of the DVD and fast-forwarding to the scene in question! [ profile] mooism got #10 - it was Spaceballs.
Meme rules:
1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. Totally cheating, you dirty cheaters.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your journal and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.
Post the first lines of the next 20 songs that appear when your media player goes all random over your all-tracks playlist. Feel free to skip the excruciatingly obvious (e.g. where the first line is the title) along with instrumentals, duplicates, and tracks where there's no lyrics sheet and the first line is unintelligible or where you're probably the only person on your flist who's got the track.

1. Love is empty
2. Where do you come from baby and ooh won't you take me there
3. Something's on my mind, it's been for quite some time

5. I look around, unsatisfied
6. You've done it all, you've broken every code - Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) by Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel ([ profile] boneist)
7. Our love's an ocean
8. Sweetheart listen, I know the last few days haven't been good for the both of us - If You Let Me Stay by Terence Trent D'Arby ([ profile] sbj180)
9. End of passion play, crumbling away - Master Of Puppets by Metallica ([ profile] fluffymormegil)
10. I met a devil woman, she took my heart away
11. Ruby Ruby, where you been so long
12. Here is a quiet room
13. Half a mile from the county fair - And It Stoned Me by Van Morrison ([ profile] arosoff)
14. I never knew her name
15. Please allow me to introduce myself - Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones ([ profile] fluffymormegil)
16. Good morning miss, can I help you son - House Of Fun by Madness ([ profile] sbj180)
17. Ever stop to wonder should I question
18. I guess you're wondering how I knew - I Heard It Thru The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye ([ profile] boneist)

2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.

A meme from a few people...

Which Female Action Hero Are You?

You are The Bride. When you get an idea in your head, you simply won't let it go! You constantly search for normalcy, love, and sometimes revenge--and your vicious stubbornness inspires you to fight to the death to get what you want.
Find Your Character @

Neat! And I get a cool sword as well.
Well, I'm terribly illiterate, aren't I?

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of today). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise that you started but couldn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. Add an asterisk* to those you've read more than once. Underline those on your to-read list.

From [ profile] matgb, a slightly different meme:

1. Go into the archives of your LJ.
2. Find your 42nd entry ever. Yes, this may require some counting and basic maths. Deal with it.
3. Link to that entry in a new entry. This is the meaning of your life.

I thought I'd get something dull and boring, but instead I found I'd quoted some song lyrics.

And as Mat points out, your own 42nd entry will be numbered between 10752 and 11008 (the URL of it will be
So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...
