A strange combination, I'm sure you'll agree, but they stand alone as two highlights of my day:
First off, England beat South Africa 25-6 in the Rugby World Cup. A hard-fought, scrappy game that was sealed by one moment of opportunism, and Johnny Wilkinson's 100% accuracy when kicking at goal. A good result, nonetheless, and we'll no doubt progress merrily on to the Semi-Finals, where the next big test - probably Australia - await us.
Second, was the first NaNoWriMo meet of the year. Given that it's via NaNo that I ended up getting an LJ, and the fact that I'm mad enough to do something like write a 50,000-novel in a month, that I'm back for more this time around. With more planning, I hope.
Tomorrow shall be spent in the company of
spliceruk watching Bad Boys II and Mystic River (with the excuse that I'm returning his West Wing DVDs back to him - I've now watched all the West Wing that is officially available on Region 2 DVD, and, because the current terrestrial broadcasts are of Season 4, not Season 3, I'll have to wait until April - April, dammit! - for the next instalment).
An evening of the usual randomness beckons, though I may do something about my 2003 NaNo web page. I have the perfect picture to use as a background, as well, and indeed found the perfect location whilst in New York last weekend: Writer's Block.
