Or, to be more precise, my life is turning into 4 Weddings and a Funeral. Let's examine the gathering evidence, shall we?
In August of this year, I shall be attending Wedding #1. This is in a small Westcountry village, and is the archetypal 'big church wedding' with all the usual hullabaloo attached. I believe the reception is in a marquee, as well. I will be staying in a country house type of hotel in the neighbouring village. (I'm not the Best Man, but that's just a quibbling detail - and neither will I be driving down to Somerset, late, saying 'Fuck' a lot, though it's possible I suppose if I manage to miss my train.)
In May next year, Wedding #2 comes along. It's not in a Scottish castle, but it's in a Lancastrian Hall, which is close enough.
At this point I hope the similarities end, as I'd not like to see any of the guests collapse and die of a heart attack whilst dancing. Also, the bride at Wedding #2 is not going to be someone I meet (and sleep with) for the first time at Wedding #1, as (a) the bride at Wedding #2 isn't going to Wedding #1, (b) I've already met her, (c) I don't think her fiance would be too pleased with me if I did sleep with her.
