This poll is hardly original, but a good idea is always worth ripping off at least once, so here goes....

A quick trip to Border's at lunch time and I came away with Black Man (Morgan) and The Prefect (Reynolds). Now that I've just finished the extremely short The Overlook (Michael Connelly, the latest Harry Bosch novel, based on a newspaper serialization, hence its brevity), I guess I ought to pick out what to read next. Or maybe I should leave it up to my dedicated army of reader(s).

[Poll #1002650]

Get to it people, and make my decisions for me!

I voted for the Prefect simply because I can't afford it for a bit, and I've read negative and positive opinions, so I'd like to see yours. Not that it matters, I'll read it anyway when I can, but, y'know.

That's a Banks book I haven't read yet as well, will get there eventually.

I went with popular opinion - my only objection being that it's an old copy and I have two new shiny books to read!

Your suggestion on Stross holds only in that I haven't yet read Accelerando, but I have the rest (of his UK sci-fi output, that is).
