Yesterday was my birthday, and it was generally low-key, the highlight being King Kong watched from the Royal Circle at the Leicester Square Odeon. These are very nice seats indeed. As perfect a view of the screen as you could ever want. (Never mind that the Royal Circle can actually seat more people then a lot of smaller screens that I've been in. It's impressive. Well, for £17 a throw, it'd bloody well better be!)
The film itself... good, but over-long. Too much CGI-showing-off, and too little New York. Cut out 45 minutes of the whole "get-to-and-adventure-on-Shull-Island" bits, add 15 minutes to New York (a shot of the SS Venture with Kong chained down on the open deck would've been nice - I bet that make the DVD SE), and it would've been better. Still, the climactic final scenes were excellent.
Alexis made me PIE for dinner! Chicken and mushroom, to be more specific, served with a dollop of mash. Mmmm.
And next... off down to my parents for Xmas. We have to keep the cat unaware of her fate - she's being boxed and taken with us, we just have to make sure she doesn't suspect a thing, otherwise she'll hide under the bed. So far... so good.
