So, I get an email from my sister Kathryn today, explaining (amongst other things) that her boyfriend won't be coming along to the family gathering in London at the end of the month:
"Still all on for 29th, but Manu's not going to be there as he's going to be
in Moscow. And he's in Romania at the moment."
WTF?! This must've been very short notice, because as far as I can recall, I never knew he was going to Moscow, let alone Romania, for any period of time, for any reason. I swear, my family complain about me never telling them anything, but they're just as bad sometimes (my other sister, Sara, has been on holiday abroad twice recently and I've only found out, by accident both times, the day she left; and they still haven't even hinted at what they'd want for Christmas, come one, I'm a bloke, I'm not supposed to be able to intuit what you want, I need to be told what you want!!)

In other news, with my NaNo novel now well under way, I've pretty much ensured that, by hook or by crook, I'll be finishing it: I've given an interview to a Radio 4 journalist about NaNo (along with five other people, and we all read excerpts, and there was recording of our general chatter and discussion). Okay, so the whole hour and three quarters session is going to be boiled down to six minutes, but I might get a mention. If I do, of course, I'll just have to finish this year, otherwise I will have shamed myself in front of the entire nation. Great way to motivate myself, huh?
Anyway, I find myself home nice and early, so I plan to put it to good use: no distractions between now and Buffy (at 6:45), and hopefully around 3000 more words; even more later this evening. This time last year, I had 32,000 words still to write after 18 days, and I finished, so there's no need to panic - yet.
