The man's not stable. I'm sure of it.

He's dragged out a low-level vendetta for years, but couldn't do anything _real_ about it until recently. Mostly because, as I understand it, under French law he's potentially responsible for his employee's actions.

Like that drunk chauffeur that was knowingly allowed to drive them that night.

So for a decade - until the statute of limitations in France ran out on his liability as an employer - he maintained a low-level campaign to direct investigations away from himself. He never wanted the investigations to be too public though, because then his own liability could be centre-stage...

Once he was free from French law, he mysteriously stepped up his campaign. However, I suspect that 10 years of half-truths and lies have addled his brain somewhat.

Let's bear in mind that before all of this, he has been denied a British passport many times as he's deemed to be of poor character. Specifically he's a known perjurer, he's evaded taxes and been implicated in parliamentary fraud. He was a bad apple to start with, but he's now a deluded bad apple.

He's only human. He's done this to himself, and as such I have some pity, but no sympathy for him.
