[livejournal.com profile] arosoff and I headed off into deepest Hampshire (er, technically, the unitary authority of Basingstoke and Deane...) to visit my sister and her better half. After a lovely lunch of cottage pie followed by banana chocolate chip pudding and ice cream, a brief wander round the Silchester Roman ruins (nice amphitheatre, and we got to see a real-life archaeological dig in progress), we retired to the beer garden of (one of) the local pub(s).

Where we were set upon by wasps. Not just the one, not two, but three. My sister's boyfriend headed off for beermats, and the plot was hatched. We considered it quite a coup to have trapped one wasp in my glass:

Wasp Under Empty Glass

We would've happily left it at that, but then a second of them took a shine to Alexis's It's-Pepsi-Is-That-Okay - so we got this:

Wasp in IPITO

So we had two wasps, one quite angry at being unable to escape its imprisonment, the other slowly drowning in sickly sweet dark sugary liquid. More fun, we decided, would be to get both wasps reunited - so we did:

Swimming Wasps

For those of you worried that we left them to their fate, I'd like to put your minds at rest. The wasps were removed from the It's-Pepsi-Is-That-Okay and squashed beneath a beermat.

Then we came home via McDonald's Drive-Thru.
