Ping?

Yeah, I'm still here, or so it seems. What's happened since my last entry? Not much. Done this, done that. See, that's why I don't really bother writing much - I don't do much that I think people will be interested in reading about. You really want to know that I've been in Slough the past couple of days on a training course? No, I didn't think so. (Personal haul: 3 pens - one of which lights up, 2 pads, 1 mug, 2 certificates worth less than the frames they're mounted in. Bonus: all of the two days' worth of course material on CD, so we can essentially take it back and let other people loose on it; it's all self-paced, so that's quite cool, though if we'd done it in the office we'd have been constantly interrupted and still be learning stuff in 6 months' time.)

I've been watching plenty of the World Cup, of course.

I bought Guitar Hero for the PS2. It's a neat game, the control method reminds me a lot of when I started learning the violin (held "guitar-style", and plucking at strings, just to get used to the fingering positions). Some of those tracks are devils even on lower difficulty levels.

[livejournal.com profile] arosoff has started driving lessons. Steer clear of North London roads between 4.30 and 6.30 on Tuesday afternoons....

And that, as they say, is that.

Except for my car. Those of you who went on the Spod holiday in Devon a couple of years ago may remember (I'm fairly sure [livejournal.com profile] chained_girl witnessed this, amongst others) one of the windows in my car (one of the passenger windows) disappearing down inside the door, and the AA having to be called out to retrieve the window and wedge it in place before a more permanent repair could be made. A problem with doors across the Volkswagen Auto Group range (my car being a Skoda Octavia - I guess this can happen on a Seat or Audi as well!). Anyway, driving around on Saturday, the driver's window pulled the same trick. At least I wasn't waiting for the AA in a car park on the edge of Dartmoor, getting rained on. The weather was better, the car park was at home, and I had my DAB radio to listen to the cricket on. And my wife to bring me ice-cream and drink :-) Car's booked in tomorrow morning, hopefully it'll be done in time for Friday when I'm going down to Devon to play bridge. Otherwise, I'm relying on Good Old GWR.

Oh, at least I didn’t break it this time…
